Behind the Curtain: A Candid Tour of Information Security & Privacy Deliverables and Standards
There are few fields as dynamic as Information Security and Privacy. From the changing attitudes around privacy, to the continuing saga of cybersecurity attacks, understanding the changing landscape in IT Security is crucial. Auditors must provide valuable, relevant, and timely insight into risks and challenges faced by their organizations. Understanding how today’s landscape is evolving is critical.
I am envisioning this as a candid, and applied speaking engagement. It will contribute directly to the conference theme in providing real-world, tactical advice on issues that are both topical, and worryingly abstract for many auditors. As a privacy and security practitioner who came to audit later in my career, I enjoy speaking on the thematic issues that are often new territory for seasoned auditors.
As a past speaker at the IIA, I have enjoyed many sessions – and always found that those with applied guidance were relished by the audience. Giving auditors more confidence in their ability and capability to assess the security and privacy landscape will help them keep their feet in this changing business and public sector climate.
