James Barr

James,CPA, CA, CRMA, is a partner in KPMG’s Risk Consulting practice, and the leader of the Canadian Enterprise Risk Management practice area. He has over 20 years of professional service experience who focuses on providing risk-based advisory and assurance services to the public sector, publicly-traded companies and private organizations. James also spent two years as an internal audit manager for a fortune 100 multinational company in New York. James has considerable experience in assisting organizations to develop, review and enhance their ERM frameworks and processes to support the evolution of their risk management practices.  He also leads several internal audit outsources and co-sources with clients in many industries. James has presented extensively on the topics of developing and implementing ERM frameworks at national conferences of the IIA and the Financial Executive Institute, as well as at IIA events in Edmonton, Regina, and Saskatoon, to the Risk and Insurance Managers of Saskatchewan chapter, and to the Victoria Financial Management Institute chapter.  James has also presented on ERM to dozens of boards of directors and executive management teams.
