Merwan Saher was appointed Auditor General of Alberta in April 2010. Merwan’s career as a legislative auditor began with the Office of the Auditor General in 1980. He was promoted to Assistant Auditor General in 1996.
Merwan has represented the office in the work of the Canadian Council of Legislative Auditors, and he has served as a member of the accounting profession’s Public Sector Accounting Board Task Force on Indicators of Financial Condition, and a Study Group on Accounting Bases Used in Canadian Government Budgeting. Currently he is a member of CPA Canada’s Public Sector Accounting Board Conceptual Framework Task Force.
