Phyllis Clarke

Phyllis Clark recently retired as Vice-President (Finance & Administration) and Chief Financial Officer of the University of Alberta after 14 years in those positions.

Phyllis came to Edmonton from a similar position at Toronto’s York University.  Prior to joining York, she was with the Ontario Government as Assistant Deputy Minister to the Management Board of Cabinet, as Chief Economist of the Province, and Assistant Deputy Minister of Economic Policy, Ministry of Finance.

Currently, Phyllis sits on the Bank of Canada Board of Directors and is Chair of its Audit and Finance Committee.  She is on the AIMCO Board and its Finance and Investment Committees, on the AMA Insurance Services Board, the TEC Edmonton Board and chairs the Edmonton Symphony and Concert Hall Foundation Board.

She does quality reviews for the Post-Secondary Quality Advisory Board in Ontario and the Degree Quality Assessment Board in British Columbia.  She just returned from speaking on Finance Management at the Association of Commonwealth Universities’ Strategic Management Programme in South Africa.

After many years trying, she still cannot golf well and has a travel bucket that never shrinks.
