David joined the Office of the City Auditor (OCA) in 1988 following several years in private accounting. He has been serving as City Auditor since 2000. His focus has been on transforming the Office of the City Auditor into an organization that provides significant value to the City of Edmonton. His strengths include the ability to focus the Office on improving its consciousness of service, production, and value as it affects both the Office’s clients and the products and services that it provides. His collaborative philosophy and commitment to the achievement of corporate goals through dedicated teamwork and effective communication has been well received by staff and by the Administration. He has significant strengths in financial accounting, financial management, fraud investigations, operational efficiency and effectiveness audits, governance reviews, and tax matters. During his tenure with the OCA, he has also had significant experience in public presentations, interviews, debates, and written communications.
David recognizes the importance of continued learning and professional development in today’s rapidly changing business world. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Management Accountant designation, Certified Internal Auditor designation, and Certified Fraud Examiner designation.
