Jean-François Riel, MBA, CIA, CCSA, CRMA, has been contributing to the field of audit, consulting and risk management for over 25 years. He has developed an excellent reputation as a leader in terms of making a difference on people, organizations and processes.
Jean-François has experience with numerous organizations, mostly in the Canadian federal government, and has always sought to add value for senior management and leave things better than when he found them. While a significant portion of his career has been in a consulting role in the private sector and at Audit Services Canada, his love of audit has also taken him through executive positions at the Public Service Commission, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Department of National Defence. He is currently the Director General of Audit at National Defence where he manages the internal audit function in one of the largest and most complex organizations in Canada.
He is an experienced and appreciated speaker in internal audit circles and, as such, has provided speaking engagements through the Canada School of Public Service, the Office of the Comptroller General, and the IIA’s Ottawa Chapter. His enthusiasm for the difference that internal audit can make comes through in his engaging delivery style.
