Miguel has conducted internal audits at international operations in North America, Asia/Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. Miguel is a member of Air Canada’s Ethics Committee, and has participated in ethics and fraud investigations, working with the Corporate Security group, the Legal department, Human Resources and other entities in the company. Miguel started his airline career in customer service operations, as a Customer Service agent at Air Canada’s Winnipeg Call Centre. Subsequently, he transferred to the Finance division (Internal Audit) as a Field Auditor. Miguel has had a number of roles with progressive responsibility in the Internal Audit division. He was part of the team that originally documented all internal processes and controls for Air Canada’s first year of compliance with SOX404 (and subsequently, with Canadian National Instrument 52-109). Miguel has been a speaker at the Airlines for America Internal Audit annual conference. Miguel holds a Bachelor of Arts (major in Economics) from the University of Winnipeg, and a MBA from Heriot-Watt University (UK). He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE), a Certified Internal Auditor (IIA), and holds a Certification in Risk Management Assurance (IIA).
